Do visit  www.muralpaintingtraditionsinindia.com , a new website on mural paintings in India, an initiative of the Madras Craft Foundation as a follow up to the International seminar titled " Painting Narratives: Mural Painting Traditions in the 13th-19th Centuries" held at DakshinaChitra in January. DakshinaChitra celebrates dussehra from September 20th to 28th with Nasik kunitafolk performers,display of golu, delicious Karnataka cuisine, crafts and textiles from Karnataka and display of colourful embroidery by Lambani crafts women. Volunteers wanted - Click here for details.

DakshinaChitra is a center for the living traditions of art, folk performing arts, craft and architecture of India with an emphasis on the traditions of South India. A project of the Madras Craft Foundation (MCF), a non-profit organisation. DakshinaChitra opened to the public in December 1996. The center occupies ten undulating acres overlooking the Bay of Bengal, at Muttukadu, twenty five kilometers south of Chennai, on the East Coast Road to Mamallapuram, Tamil Nadu, India...
