Patachitra WorkshopWorkshops

DakshinaChitra conducts regular workshops for adults which highlight art, craft or folk performing art forms.

Some of the workshops we have conducted in the past are:

  • Mural Painting
  • Terracotta Pottery/Jewelry
  • Papier Mache Craft
  • Tanjore Painting
  • Palm leaf craft and many more
  • Indigo Dying
  • Textile Crafts

By conducting these workshops we hope to give a new lease of life to the traditional craft and art forms of India.

Pottery WorkshopThe workshops encourage the practicing artisans and introduce urban participants to a variety of traditional skills through which some are able to create contemporary creations.

Teachers Workshops

DakshinaChitra recognizes the important role played by teachers in shaping the future leaders of our society. And we have realized that teachers are the ideal path to include arts and craft awareness in schools.

We therefore have planned a series of workshops that equip teachers with skills based on craft art, story telling practices which they can use while communicating to students.

Workshops have centered on puppets as teaching aids, yoga & meditation skills, scientific and traditional toy making, medicinal plants etc.

We could arrange similar workshops for members of a school on request.
