This panel will include presentations on the mural paintings of the different regions and address issues of style, materials, themes, political background and narrative intent. Panel speakers would be drawn from different disciplines and be grouped according to the region/country of the paintings they address.

Panel Three : Cross-cultural Processes

Between the 13th and the 19th centuries, cross-cultural dissemination of ideas on religion, philosophy and society found visual expression in the arts, traveling primarily from India to Southeast Asian countries. An exploration of the processes of dissemination, adaptation and change of foreign ideas to new societies, as referenced through paintings would be the subject of this panel.
