The Living Ocean Exhibition

The Living Ocean is a hybrid art exhibition that celebrates the Ocean and examines the impact of climate change on the planet. Curated by Parvathi Nayar, the permanent exhibit will be on view at the Moplah House, DakshinaChitra Museum. This exhibition brings to our attention the ocean that covers over 70% of our Blue Planet. The exhibition also showcases inspirational stories of people working to make a difference. The show will be a juxtaposition of artworks, films, installations, interactive infographics and cultural artefacts. Parvathi Nayar is a multidisciplinary artist, writer and poet. Her art work engages with the ocean and waterscapes, environment and sustainability and the philosophies of inhabiting such spaces. A second permanent exhibition is being inaugurated in the same house, Glimpses into Kozhikode: the Mappila Community, Trade and Boat-building, conceptualized by Dr. Deborah Thiagarajan. Since the house was located in Kuttichera in Kozhikode city the exhibition will display photographs, exhibits and films about the region, people, the culture, trade in the city and how Kozhikode emerged as a major port on the Arabian sea and also about traditional boatbuilding in Beypore, Kozhikode. Join us for the opening of this brand new exhibition here at DakshinaChitra.
